Authentic Mexican Loop holsters are cut from one piece of leather. Originally made in the late 1800's from worn saddle fenders which created a neatly woven pocket for the gun to ride.
The single most popular and practical holster riggings in the 1800's and early 1900's was the Mexican Loop. For reasons of survival, in the rough turn of the century Southwest, Arizona Rangers were some of the first to try to develop an improved fast-draw version of the Mexican Loop design.
For these gunmen and horsemen, the height at which the gun was carried was critical. The six-guns' hammer was generally about even with the top of the cartridge belt, which was strapped on just below the trouser belt. This positioned the gun in just the right spot to provide a good combination of a smooth, fast draw and riding comfort.

For Gun Belt sizes please measure yourself and select the inches at which you will buckle at the center hole of your gun belt. This is an important measurement and is different than your normal pant belt or true waist size. Typically your gun belt measurement size will be 4-6 inches larger than your regular blue jean size or pant belt depending on your gender, confirmation and build. that is why it is important to take a measurement over typical shooting attire around yourself where you want your gunbelt to ride. Some people prefer higher riding or lower riding wearing conditions and it is completely personal preference.
Remember you will be buckling your gun belt below your normal pant waist, wearing clothing, chaps or winter gear so please take this into consideration when providing your gun belt size measurement. We provide 8 holes spaced one inch apart in the billet providing a 2-3 inch adjustment out and in from center to accommodate different clothing and weight gain or loss.
