Maker Bretts' Background
Brett is a third generation Oregon Buckaroo. Brett grew up cowboying and started working for large cattle operations when he was 17. His love for the cowboy life and his desire to travel was suitable for Brett to take his riggings eastern to Wyoming, Nevada, and Montana as a young man and he worked seasonally breaking colts in the winter for some outfits and leading summer pack trips and guided hunting trips with some of the finest guest ranches and outfitters in the west.

During the early fall Brett would begin work getting hunting camps ready for clients and then he would lead hunt trips until the season ended in the Bob Marshal Wilderness area. In the winter Brett spent a lot of time with oldtimers at ranches fixing horse tack, making saddlebags and headstalls but didnt really know he would be working with leather as his primary interest until during a summer pack trip when Kristin (his future wife) met a fellow who spoke about his father who was a holster maker for over 40 years and was selling his business. Kris made a mental note to tell Brett about it after he returned from the hills since she knew he liked to make his own cowboy gear and she thought he was quite handy at it.

Brett loved to ride and hunt more than just about anything and he didnt like to turn his head on a new opportunity without ample thought and as soon as he was able he would make a trip to see Maker Dave Shelgrin and see what his holster business was all about. It didnt take long for Brett to decide to apprentice under Dave and learn all he could from a master leathercrafter. When the time was right, Brett and Kris bought Daves business and Circle KB was officially born in 1996.

Since then, Brett has focused all of his work on gunleather and has modified and perfected his patterns to replicate truly authentic gun holsters and gun belts that would have been worn in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Kristin is responsible for customer service, web development and new product development while Brett remains focused solely on making gunleather.

When Circle KB launched their first web site it included a full range of horse tack and holsters but not much of anything else. Today CircleKB.com carries near 1000 old west products driven completely by customer demand. Everything Circle KB makes and sells is because someone out there has asked for it. All Circle KB gunleather is completely made by Maker Brett Park is busy with a estimated 12 weeks turnaround from order to shipment year round. It makes sense to plan ahead. Circle KB uses only Premium Grade A Vegetable tanned cowhide on all of their gunleather. Brett doesn't use a machine clicker to cut out holsters or gun belts in mass quantity. He hand cuts every piece, hand laces cartridge loops and  nothing pre-dyed or machine embossed goes on any rig. All rigs are wet molded and dried to fit your firearm creating a perfect fit, easy draw and holster. You can totally create your own look and finish. Choose color, tooling, conchos, initials, custom cartridge loops. And, have all of your questions answered happily.  Special requests are encouraged, keeping our work fresh and exciting.
