A decent first gun, 7.24.2011 Reviewer: Hannah (Overland Park, KS) This was my first gun ever, I've had it for a couple of years now although I haven't shot it in a while. It's got a nice weight and feel to it, a fun little plinker, cheap to shoot. I don't know how much of this had to do with my learning curve, but the mainspring broke when my 1851 Colt Navy was about a year old--and I wasn't shooting it often. Fortunately, parts for this gun are readily available and cheap and the mechanisms are simple, so you can do many of your own repairs. Also, the nipples on this model are known for being tightened too much at the factory and can be a real bear to loosen. If you're buying this gun, invest in a decent tool-grade steel nipple wrench. Remove the nipples first thing, before using the gun, and lubricate them with anti-seize and you should be fine. Learn from my mistakes! Overall a gun I'd recommend for a beginner. I'm buying another one soon so I can dual-weild and do more tricks.
